How Tech Boy Deepak Built a 335K-Follower Personal Brand | Young and Ambitious #3

As kids, we all dreamed of going viral on social media. For most, it remains just a dream. But what if the secret to going viral wasn’t luck? Some blame it on luck, but I had the privilege of talking to Mr. Puram Deepak a.k.a. Tech Boy Deepak, a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador and Ninja Entrepreneur, who has built a following of over 335K on Instagram and helped over 1 million students across India. He shared with me the real key to success. And it’s not what most people think. We unpacked his rapid rise, creative process, and what it really takes to grow online today.

Here is what he had to say:

1. You’ve went from campus ambassador roles to Mr. Influencer 2023 and over 335K followers! What sparked your journey into tech content creation, and did you ever imagine it would scale this far?

My journey into content creation began long before I entered the tech space—it actually started back in 8th standard. From a young age, I was deeply curious about the digital world. I experimented with phones, launched YouTube channels focused on photography, and explored multiple creative interests like music, dance, and even badminton. Content creation wasn’t just a hobby—it was a passion that evolved over the years.

However, the turning point came during my engineering days, particularly in my third year. I became actively involved in various tech communities and started attending numerous tech events. That exposure opened doors—many tech community founders and peers began sharing valuable resources, opportunities, and updates with me, trusting me to pass them along to fellow students. That’s when I realized: I had access to information that could truly help engineering students learn and grow. It felt like the perfect time to channel my passion for content into something impactful.

I took up campus ambassador roles and began actively contributing to student communities. Slowly, my network grew across different states in India. I leveraged that reach to start building my personal brand—Tech Boy Deepak—focused on simplifying tech, upskilling, and sharing opportunities for students.

Reaching 335,000+ followers and being honored as Mr. Influencer 2023 didn’t happen overnight. It’s been a journey of consistent effort—posting regularly, doing thorough research, and most importantly, delivering real value to my audience. Every piece of content I’ve shared reflects the hard work, authenticity, and passion I carry for helping the student community grow.

2. Your audience size proves that you’ve mastered the art of blending tech, opportunities, and storytelling, so what’s your creative process like when planning your content?

Tech Boy Deepak’s Creative Process

For me, content creation always starts with one question: What value am I giving my audience today? Whether it’s tech news, career tips, or opportunities, I make sure every reel or post is useful to students and young professionals. That’s the foundation of my creative process.

I don’t focus on flashy edits—I focus on clarity, relevance, and real impact. My goal is for viewers to remember the information, not just the presentation.

Consistency is another key element. I’ve been showing up every day or every alternate day for over a year, and I genuinely believe that kind of discipline is what helps build a strong personal brand.

What drives me the most is the feedback. I regularly hear from students who got internships, scholarships, or interview calls after watching my content. That impact is my motivation—and when a video reaches over 1 lakh views in a day, that’s not just reach to me, it’s a reminder that I’m making a difference.

3. What tools, platforms, or strategies have played a key role in growing your personal brand to where it is today? Anything that you think is underrated?

Instagram has been the foundation of my personal brand—it’s where I post the majority of my content, especially short-form videos that simplify tech and share opportunities. Consistency and clarity in messaging have been my biggest strategies. I never went after trends; I focused on what actually helps students.

Google Trends and LinkedIn have also played a key role. I use them to stay updated on real-time topics and student needs. That way, my content is always relevant.

One underrated strategy is Community building. I constantly engage with my audience through DMs, comments, and broadcast channels. That direct connection builds trust and loyalty—and that’s something no algorithm can replace.

Also, tools like Notion and Google Sheets helped me organize content ideas, track performance, and streamline tasks across my projects. It’s not just about creating—it’s about managing the process smartly.

At the end of the day, it’s a mix of consistency, authenticity, and the willingness to listen and adapt. That’s what helped me scale my brand to over 335K+ followers.

4. You have received a lot of impressive awards and traction, but what’s been your biggest challenge so far as a content creator in tech, and how did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a tech content creator is motivating students to actually start upskilling. Sharing opportunities is one thing, but getting them to take that first step is much harder.

I haven’t fully overcome this challenge—but I’m working on it every day. I run quizzes, host challenges, and sometimes even create thought-provoking content to push them into action. My goal is to not just inform, but to inspire movement. It’s a continuous effort, but even small shifts in student mindset make it worth it.

5. What’s your long-term vision, both as a creator and a tech leader? Where do you see “Tech Boy Deepak” heading in the next few years?

As a creator, my long-term vision is to build a strong, impact-driven ecosystem for students—something beyond just content. I want to create platforms that simplify access to tech education, opportunities, and mentorship at scale. My goal is to empower students who don’t yet realize their potential and help them turn knowledge into real-world outcomes.

As a tech leader, I see myself building solutions that bridge the gap between education and industry—through startups, communities, or products. I want “Tech Boy Deepak” to evolve into a brand that stands for actionable value, trust, and transformation in the student tech space.

In the next few years, I aim to scale what I’m doing—from reels to real-world impact. Whether it’s launching my own app, growing my AI Learning Community, or building tools that support student careers, the direction is clear: build, educate, and inspire at scale.

A huge thank you to Mr. Deepak for sharing his story and offering valuable advice for those looking to grow in the social media space. His focus on community building to gain trust, networking for early traction, and inspiring others to improve themselves shows that success isn’t just about luck.
